Prezi is a U.S. software company, producing a cloud-based presentation software and storytelling tool for presenting ideas on a virtual canvas. It can be made very easily and it can be accessed by the public. Prezi is a creative tool that can have a positive impact on many different things.

Prezi can make a very large impact on the business world. When using Prezi you are able to “co-create” presentations, just like Google Docs. The reason that Prezi is better than Google Docs is because it is more elaborate and it is more impressive to the audience. Using Prezi basically give you the effect of watching a movie. It also allows the PowerPoint to be viewed online by other individuals and it can be connected to Facebook. Based on all these advantages Prezi is a very handy tool that businesses should use to have effective presentations. The negative of Prezi is that after a while the effects might be boring and the presentations could lose their “wow” factors.

Prezi isn’t considered a social website like Facebook or Twitter; it fits more into the category or an advanced Google Docs. You can interact with people that you are working on assignments with, but you can’t meet new people. You can view others blogs and look at what they think and write, but it isn’t a site where you talk to your friends.

As far as the entertainment industry is concern Prezi isn’t very useful. Yes you can look at other peoples’ blog and see what they are writing about, but that isn’t likely to happen enough to be affective. The site isn’t for advertising or reaching out to the public. So, if a musician or movie star is trying to promote their movie or song Prezi isn’t going to help.

Just like the previous two industries the news aspect isn’t going to use Prezi to spread the news. You can look up other people’s blogs and see what is going on in the world. You can see article that they have looked at and their opinions on them. It does take some effort to actually find other blogs, but if you are persistent enough it can be worth it. But, since there is other sites that you can access the news quicker, Google Docs isn’t the first choice for something like this.

As far as recreational is concerned there is no use based on Prezi. You are better off going on Facebook or a gaming site for that.

Google Docs

Google Docs is an open source program that is used by many different people. Google Docs is a freeware web-based office suite offered by Google within its Google Drive service. It also was a storage service but has since been replaced by Drive. It allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating with other users.

                As far as the business field is concerned Google Docs isn’t very useful. It can allow partners to collaborate on presentations and papers. They can all work on it at the same time and chat about what they want to write about. It is helpful because it doesn’t require people to get together to do an assignment. It also is a way for someone to save their work without having a saving device.  Since you only need a Google account to access the document it is very useful for planning and writing. However, you cannot interact using Google Docs and the businesses can’t advertise or promote their companies as effectively as a Facebook or Twitter. Communication with new customers can’t occur and you can’t meet people through the website as constantly as other sites.

Facebook

Over the last 10 years or so, Facebook has become the number one used social networking website in the world. This social networking website allows users to interact and share information with their “friends”. It was created in 2004 by a college student name Mark Zuckerberg. Even though there are obvious positive aspects of Facebook, there are many negative aspects as well; many of them have to do with the privacy policy.  

Facebook can be used by businesses to advertise and interact with the community. A page on Facebook is when a company creates a page that can be viewed and “liked” by users on the site. When users like the page is shows the amount of people who support the company or product, and it also is a way to promote. Creating a Facebook page is very easy; all you need to do is create an account and select to create a page. This is a very useful way to advertise because it is cheap and it will reach a large amount of potential customers. The negative part of Facebook for businesses is that the customers can show their dislike for the company publicly and it can be seen by many others users. As of recently the advertising aspect of Facebook has been spinning out of control. This is bad for the site and the companies that want to advertise. This can lower a company’s or product’s rep and it can lower the sales.         

The main use of the social media site, Facebook, is social interaction. Facebook allows you to look at friends’ pictures and status updates to see what they have been doing recently. The interactions include chats, which are in real time and are a quick way of interacting. However, there are many negatives in Facebook that have to do with the fine print that the users agree to when signing up for a profile. The privacy of a user is not protected very well. The companies can sell the users information to other companies without the consent of the user. This can lead to unwanted phone calls, viruses, and even identity theft. Users assume that they can only be viewed by their friends, but this isn’t true. Many profiles can be accessed by most of the world if they want to and if the users puts personal information on their profile, such as their address and telephone, it can be taken. Users have to be more careful when putting information on the social media sites like Facebook because they never know who is going to read it.      

Like many of the business on Facebook, entrainment can use the site for the same purpose. A movie, show, or an individual in the music industry can promote themselves by creating ads and pages on Facebook. It can tell fans when dates of events are and special things like coupons and previews can be viewed by “liking” it on twitter. The negative part of Facebook for the entertainment industry is that not everyone is going to look at the page, so the whole advertising can be a complete bust.

News on Facebook spreads like wildfire if the event is of a large enough magnitude. This is the best part of having the news on the site besides the fact that users can give their opinions on the topics and talk to others. They can also start fundraisers and pages to create awareness for certain situations and events. There aren’t any negative aspects of Facebook that affect the news.

As far as recreational is concerned the biggest part is the games on Facebook. The free games are a way for the site to make money for the companies to pay to have their games on the site. Also those companies are able to expand their horizons and make new fans because Facebook has so many users that can play the games. The bad part of having all the games is that they can get access to your information and they are also very annoying when they pop up on your wall without you letting them to do so. Also it is a very easy way to get viruses or to get hacked.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a social networking website designed for business professionals. It allows you to share work-related information with other users and keep an online list of professional contacts. Like Facebook and MySpace, LinkedIn allows you to create a custom profile. However, profiles created within LinkedIn are business-oriented rather than personal. Overall, it is a very handy website for interacting with other business professionals to network and expand your horizons.

            The main use of LinkedIn is for business. The website allows you to keep in touch with colleagues both past and present, which can be very useful. Along with having current partners you can connect with new potential business partners. These new business partners can allow you to be more successful and reach out to others to help not only yourself, but also the business you will be interacting with. It isn’t a personal website; however people can view your résumé and see what kind of business you are in. This is very important if you are trying to expand your business. It is also a great website for people in business because it is used by millions of business professionals. There aren’t many downfalls to this website, but the one downfall is that if you do use personal information it could leave a negative impact on your one profile and lower your chances of getting a job.         

            LinkedIn doesn’t have a real big social impact. The positive is that the users can in interact with businesses like previously stated for the business aspect of the website. And the negative is that there is no real social interaction allowed on the site.                      

            Regarding entertainment the website can be useful. This website can be a way to break into the entertainment industry. You can be picked up by a large entertainment company for a variety of jobs. Usually for the entertainment business you need to know someone to get a job, but with this website you have the ability to get a job purely based on your abilities. The negative part of this website of LinkedIn for the entertainment industry is that it can be very difficult to get a job this way. Like I said before, getting a job this way is possible, but if you really want to get a job in this industry this isn’t the way to do it.

            The news in general isn’t affected or used by this website. Also the recreational aspect of the website is almost nonexistent. The only way that LinkedIn can be used in these fields is if you are trying to find a job. This isn’t the site for wasting time on or looking of fun things to do this weekend.

            Overall LinkedIn is a great website for anyone who is looking for a job. It will let you reach out to people if you need someone to work for you also. It is purely business based and is very useful for many individuals.

Twitter is an online social networking and blogging service that lets people send and read “tweets”. Tweets are messages that cannot exceed 140 characters in length. You can follow individuals to read their tweets and you can receive followers who want to read your tweets often. It was founded in 2006 in San Francisco and since that date 554,750,00 people have created an account on twitter. This massive increase in twitter popularity has caused many different fields to get involved in the twitter world. Twitter has led to a completely new way of advertising and interacting with customers.    

            Businesses use twitter in many different ways. The main purpose of twitter for businesses is to send out the message of the business and its products/services through advertisements.  Businesses can buy advertisements on twitter for a fee or they can create an account. An official account for a business can have millions of followers which is a great way to advertise. They can talk about their company for no fee at all. However, some negative effects of twitter on businesses are due to the the interactions between the customer and the business. Customers can give their opinion, which are sometimes no so nice, and this can cause a negative interactions. All these interactions can make the reputation of the business go down and make the business lose profit.     

            The social aspect of twitter has the ability to affect and touch many people across the country. Twitter allows everyone to talk and communicate with each other within seconds. You can talk to anyone about anything from sports, to business, to just interacting with family and friends. However, the downfall of this technology is that you cannot take back anything you say. If you say something mean or give out personal information about yourself and delete it it’s still out in the internet. It will never go away, so you have to be very careful in what you say and how you say it because you never know whose watching.           

            The twitter world has a large impact on the entertainment industry.  Many actors and actresses can interact with the public through twitter. Also twitter allows the celebrities to speak directly with their followers and increase the PR greatly. This PR can be used to promote a movie or show along with different things the celebrities promote. They might be the spokesperson for a product and by twitting something positive about the product they influence their followers to purchase that product. Also bands and concerts can promote themselves and tickets and deals to their shows without having to pay for advertising. The negative affect on the entertainment industry is that the publicity isn’t always positive and it can give that group or individual a bad reputation. In doing so they may lose followers and cause them to become less popular.

            News can travel faster with twitter. No one needs to watch the TV anymore or listen to the radio to know the news. Now they can just refresh their phones and they can know what is happening all around the world. It makes people more knowledgeable about the world around them and what is happening. But being exposed to all this news can be a bad thing. Sometimes we don’t want to know that something sad is happening, but if it pops up on your news feed you are basically forced to see it. This makes people very aware of their surroundings and sometimes people have opinions that don’t exactly match. These situations can cause fights and arguments.

            Twitter in a great way to waste free time and interact with your buddies. Twitter is a great way to keep up on things that are important to you like sports and news. You can also talk to anyone in the world with common interests and find people to talk to about things you like and get their opinions. It makes you smarter and more open to the rest of the world and the opinions in it. But this could lead to stalking and hate acts by other people that you do not want to be associated with. You always have to be careful and be safe or else it could be a problem.
