Google Docs

Google Docs is an open source program that is used by many different people. Google Docs is a freeware web-based office suite offered by Google within its Google Drive service. It also was a storage service but has since been replaced by Drive. It allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating with other users.

As far as the business field is concerned Google Docs isn’t very useful. It can allow partners to collaborate on presentations and papers. They can all work on it at the same time and chat about what they want to write about. It is helpful because it doesn’t require people to get together to do an assignment. It also is a way for someone to save their work without having a saving device.  Since you only need a Google account to access the document it is very useful for planning and writing. However, you cannot interact using Google Docs and the businesses can’t advertise or promote their companies as effectively as a Facebook or Twitter. Communication with new customers can’t occur and you can’t meet people through the website as constantly as other sites.

There is no real use of Google Docs for a social aspect. You can interact with people that you are working on assignments with, but you cant meet new people. You can view others blogs and look at what they think and write, but the interaction isn’t like Facebook or Twitter. Google Docs isn’t a site where you talk to your friends.

As far as the entertainment industry is concern Google Docs isn’t very useful. Yes you can look at other peoples’ blog and see what they are writing about, but that isn’t likely to happen enough to be affective. The site isn’t for advertising or reaching out to the public. So, if a musician or movie star is trying to promote their movie or song Google Docs isn’t going to help.

News can be useful for Google Docs to an extent. You can look up other people’s blogs and see what is going on in the world. You can see article that they have looked at and their opinions on them. It does take some effort to actually find other blogs, but if you are persistent enough it can be worth it. But, since there is other sites that you can access the news quicker, Google Docs isn’t the first choice for something like this.

Recreational wise, Google Docs has basically no use whatsoever. There is no “fun” things on the site and you cant really find things to do based on the site.

Overall, Google Docs is an excellent site if you want to either write a blog or use it as a saving device for assignments and projects. You can collaborate with others on these assignments and chat about what to write about. As far as reading other blogs is concerned, it takes a lot of effort just to find a blog if you don’t have the web address. You cant talk to others freely and there isn’t any “fun” things to do.
